THE FOUNDATION OF #MP3.BE
Somewhere during the fall of 1996, some people on irc got bored of all the lameness around Mp3s and decided to start their own little local channel, #mp3.be. Those guys were FoxFox and Mr_Crzay. Soon enough they realized that they weren't well enough trained to maintain the channel from all those suckers out there and they had to surrender. End of chapter 1.
Soon after, a fellow KUL-student named _Azazel_ restarted the channel and of course FoxFox and Mr_Crazy teamed up with _azazel_ and xingi. Now we were ready for the big bad world and started promoting the channel. We all remember how FoxFox put up a very buggy `Freebiesībot. You would have to type !freebies in the channel to get a list of available mp3s and then use !get to get'em. Those were the days, but nevertheless that stupid little bot got a lot of people in the channel and we were roling.
Now, 2 years later, the channel is still up and running. We've had some takeovers and foreign reigns (from #mp3 and the Warlords) but we always got our channel back. Thruth is we're still very poorly organised and we are recovering from the loss of _azazel_ and his bots now. Yes indeed, one of the founders of the channel left because he was upset by the way the channel was managed. He started another channel with xingi and dooly but we sure hope he'll come back some day.
In the meanwhile things are going great, we got some ftps running and we can say we do get around very well. But as I said, #mp3.be is really allmost 99% non-mp3. Many of the people on the channel know each other in real life and we did create some nice channel, which can really give you the feeling of getting home to your family when you type /join #mp3.be
